Our movie and TV ratings are available on Comcast, DirecTV, Netflix, and many other partner networks, helping families and kids make smart media choices. Through our schools program, we provide educators with a curriculum that teaches the essential digital citizenship and literacy skills every student needs to succeed. More than 70,000 member schools use our ratings and curriculum and content. We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, and legislators to improve the media, tech, and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.

We are seeking a creative motion designer and editor to help create explainer and tip videos for the Common Sense Media and Common Sense Education websites, products for video-on-demand audiences and other partners, and videos for YouTube and other social channels. With the help of the Common Sense Latino team, we also translate many of our videos into Spanish for our growing Latino audience on all of our channels.

Our ideal candidate should have three to five years of experience and be looking to enhance their skill set in a fun and fast-paced setting.

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Create motion graphics videos, including explainer videos, parent tip videos, social videos, and video products.
  • Edit live-action videos as needed -- usually interview, how-to, and/or documentary-style.
  • Provide post-production support and basic video mastering, including but not limited to color correction, sound mixing, and compression.
  • Maintain broadcast quality on all video products.

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RÉSUMÉ:

  • A minimum of three years' experience using the Adobe Creative Suite -- After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro -- but dedicated to making the best product no matter what software is used.
  • Highly creative and skilled in storytelling with a strong visual sensibility and sense of pacing.
  • Experience in typography, color, composition, compositing, and title design.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, project-sharing environment -- or a desire to.
  • Cinema 4D experience a plus .
  • Color correction and sound design experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of HD formats and compressions.

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR REEL:

  • Editing sample that includes at least two live-action (storytelling, promotional, or how-to content) samples and at least two motion graphics samples.
