We offer the largest library of independent age-based and educational ratings and reviews for everything your kids want to watch, play, read, and learn. Our movie and TV ratings are available on Netflix, Comcast, DirecTV, and many other partner networks, helping families and kids make smart media choices. Through our schools program, we provide educators with a curriculum that teaches the essential digital-citizenship and literacy skills every student needs to succeed. More than 100,000 member schools across the country use our ratings and free curricula and content. We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, legislators, and a grassroots community of concerned parents and teachers to improve the media and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.

SUMMARY 

This position has dual responsibilities. It will be responsible for delivering professional services in Texas and for leading our sales efforts nationally. It is a full-time position.

The Professional Services part of the job is concentrated in Texas. The initial focus will be on fulfilling grant obligations to a handful of districts in Texas. The DSP will develop and manage strategic outreach collaborations with state and countywide educational organizations/associations and key school districts. The DSP will provide professional development to teachers and administrators, pilot new educational resources, and evaluate the impact of programming. This work supports the use of Common Sense Education's free and premium resources to educators.

In Sales the DSP will be responsible for growing Premium Services and increasing revenue. The Sales role includes channel development and direct sales. It is national in scope, although the bulk of the work should be done online rather than in person.

This person will be a remote employee (work from home), but will travel in Texas regularly and occasionally nationally (for significant sales opportunities). The position also requires traveling up to twice a year to San Francisco.

We anticipate that these roles will be split into two positions when the workload requires it. At that time we will work with the DSP on selecting the right fit for them and the organization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Professional Services

  • Build partnerships with grant-supported school districts in Texas to introduce educators to Common Sense Education resources.
  • Facilitate in-person professional development on:
    • Best practices for the implementation of Common Sense Education resources.
    • Effectively integrating technology in schools to enrich and enhance learning.
    • Fostering a strong home-school connection and engaging and educating parents about technology and their kids.
  • Work with grant-supported districts in Texas to develop customized implementation plans for Common Sense Education programs.
  • Identify and support select schools in piloting Common Sense programs.
  • Engage "exemplar" educators and schools in the state, supporting them in becoming recognized as Common Sense Educators, Schools, and Districts.
  • Collect data and evaluate grant-supported programming through both quantitative and qualitative assessments.

Sales

  • Manage sales nationally.
    • Manage leads for new accounts through the sales process to close.
    • Work with existing customers to deepen our account reach and to ensure membership renewal.
      • Develop and implement plans for increasing market share at key accounts.
    • Oversee channel sales partnerships to expand CSE's sales reach into the market.
  • Collaborate across the organization on go-to-market activities.
    • Work with Business Development, Marketing, and Education teams to identify key partners.
    • Coordinate with Marketing in the execution of sales objectives, strategies, and promotions.
    • Collaborate with Development to establish philanthropic supported premium membership schools, districts, and/or other school adoption offerings.
    • Support Education Program Managers to drive sales and consultation opportunities within their service regions.
    • Recommend product or service enhancements to improve member satisfaction, services, and sales potential to increase school adoption and membership.
  • Process management.
    • Consistently maintain the CRM to track opportunities and report on pipeline.
    • Develop and refine streamlined sales management processes and tools.
    • Develop, forecast, and monitor budgets.

 

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RESUME

  • Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree preferred, preferably in education or education-related field.
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in coordinating/managing education programs and building collaborations; teaching or working directly with kids a plus.
  • Deep understanding of school/district adoption and implementation practices.
  • Consultative selling experience and aptitude.
  • Deep knowledge of education technology.
  • Firsthand experience with and knowledge about digital media and learning.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in facilitating professional development/training for adults.
  • Excellent project management, public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and well-organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborations.
  • Collaborative style, entrepreneurial spirit, and enthusiasm.
  • A strong desire to bring creative, innovative ideas to the organization.
