Our movie and TV ratings are available on Netflix, Comcast, DirecTV, and many other partner networks, helping families and kids make smart media choices. Through our schools program, we provide educators with a curriculum that teaches the essential digital citizenship and literacy skills every student needs to succeed. More than 100,000 member schools across the country use our ratings and free curricula and content. We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, legislators, and parents and teachers to improve the media and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.

 

Common Sense is seeking an all-star intern who can help our Latino team over the summer. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get practical experience in culturally relevant content creation and marketing for the Latino community. The ideal candidate will be a great team player who's detail-oriented and can work both collaboratively and independently.

 

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that is uniquely placed in the Latino community as a high-quality resource for parents.
  • Support our content-creation, content-distribution, and marketing efforts.
  • Transcreate scripts for short videos and articles.
  • Get hands-on experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and Drupal (a content management system).
  • Support our engagement strategy in our YouTube and Facebook channels.
  • Specific projects may include:
    • Researching popular trends on Google, Facebook, and YouTube.
    • Analyzing the performance of the content on our site.
    • Creating social images and graphics to share on social media and on the site.

 

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RÉSUMÉ:

  • Writing, journalism, communications, or media studies majors preferred, or demonstrated interest in these subjects.
  • English-Spanish bilingual.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong follow-through.
  • Strong teamwork skills; cooperative working style.
  • Flexible and responsive; able to perform in a dynamic work environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Ideal start date: Orientation is Monday, June 17, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. On-site attendance is preferred.
  • Ideal end date: Friday, August 9, 2019
  • Hours: ~15-20 hours/week
  • Interns need to be available to attend a minimum of six weekly educational Lunch & Learns (there will be seven total). Lunch & Learns will be every Wednesday from 12 p.m.–1 p.m. (PST). On-site attendance is preferred.
  • We will work with your clinical or internship office for school credit if necessary.
  • This is a paid opportunity.
