We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, legislators, parents, and teachers to improve the media and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.


Common Sense is seeking an all-star graphic/visual design intern who can work alongside our creative design team over the summer. This is a great opportunity for any individual looking to hone their graphic/visual design chops for an altruistic cause. The ideal candidate will be a great team player who is detail-oriented and can work both collaboratively and independently.


LOCATION: San Francisco, CA




  • Work alongside the creative team as part of our larger marketing team.
  • Get hands-on experience with print design, digital visual design, and production.
  • Projects may include:
    • Creating marketing materials for print.
    • Digital design and production for websites and social media.
  • Assist individual team members with other administrative duties as necessary.



  • A solid understanding of design file formats and basic design principles including typography, color, and alignment.
  • Proficiency in some or all of the following: Adobe CS, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Google Suite, CSS, and Sketch.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented and strong follow-through.
  • Strong teamwork skills; cooperative working style.
  • Flexible and responsive; able to perform in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ideal start date: Orientation is Monday, June 17, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. On-site attendance is preferred.
  • Ideal end date: Friday, August 9, 2019
  • Hours: ~15-20 hours/week
  • Interns need to be available to attend a minimum of six weekly educational Lunch & Learns (there will be seven total). Lunch & Learns will be every Wednesday from 12 p.m.–1:00 p.m. (PST). On-site attendance is preferred.
  • We will work with your clinical or internship office for school credit if necessary.
  • This is a paid opportunity.
