Common Sense is seeking an all-star Salesforce CRM intern who can help our strategic data management team over the summer. This is a great opportunity for any individual looking to gain practical experience at a rapidly growing, national nonprofit. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is detail-oriented, a lifelong learner, and a technology buff and can work both collaboratively and independently.

 

Our team's mission is to build an accurate single source of truth that empowers Common Sense to make strategic data-driven decisions. The Salesforce CRM intern will be part of the team working on aggregating a complete view of our MVPs (members, vendors, and partners) and all their interactions with our organization.

 

We recognize that these skill sets don't always overlap and encourage candidates with project management, data-quality assurance, or technical backgrounds to apply. An average week will involve activities such as sitting in a meeting with stakeholders, getting caught up on new Salesforce features, attending team meetings, earning Trailhead badges, overseeing data-integrity projects, and generally learning about how Salesforce plays a key role in bringing greater transparency and insights to key stakeholders for their strategic decision-making.

 

The intern in this position has the opportunity to build tangible and marketable skills, including:

  • Understanding the strategic data team's 90/10 philosophy of Salesforce careers.
  • Hands-on experience with data-quality tools, AppExchange vendors, and a Salesforce instance that covers 100+ users and millions of records (Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, NPSP).
  • Developing an internal-consultant mentality by understanding the implementation approach of product requests: analyze, design, build, validate, deploy, train.
  • Achieving Adventurer rank (or above) on Salesforce Trailhead.
    • Completing, at least, the following two trails: administer nonprofit success pack (NPSP) and fundraise with nonprofit success pack (NPSP).

 

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assist the Salesforce business analyst and Salesforce CRM manager in gathering requirements and building and testing components in a Sandbox environment.
  • Assess and document the flow of user data through our systems, and do a formal presentation with recommendations by the end of the internship program.
  • Organize and maintain collected data values to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Other projects as assigned.

 

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RÉSUMÉ:

  • A familiarity with:
    • The use of Google Sheets, Excel, and/or other spreadsheet software.
    • Basic concepts, and usage, of cloud-based technology.
    • Work or school project examples and/or volunteer experience that demonstrates strong analytical skills, heavy attention to detail, and ability to work well in group and/or collaborative settings.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.

 

THE X FACTOR:

  • A working knowledge of Salesforce or other cloud-based CRM systems.
  • Comfortable and willing to help define and identify priorities.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Ideal start date: Orientation is Monday, June 17, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. On-site attendance is preferred.
  • Ideal end date: Friday, August 9, 2019
  • Hours: ~15-20 hours/week
  • Interns need to be available to attend a minimum of six weekly educational Lunch & Learns (there will be seven total). Lunch & Learns will be every Wednesday from 12–1 p.m. (PST). On-site attendance is preferred.
  • We will work with your clinical or internship office for school credit if necessary.
  • This is a paid opportunity.
