We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, legislators, and a grassroots community of concerned parents and teachers to improve the media and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.

We are looking for a passionate video intern who is excited to learn about the inner workings of a studio operation. As an intern, you will assist our video team in executing team project deliverables while garnering practical experience in a fast-paced national nonprofit environment. 

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA 

TYPE: Part-time, temporary

HOURS: ~20 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Senior director, video production, and video editor and distribution coordinator


  • Build tangible and marketable skills.
  • Hone your technical experience and video-editing skills.
  • Collaborate in a mission-driven organization. 


  • Edit multiple videos, including movie reviews, tips, etc.
  • Assist with in-studio and location-based video production.
  • Create site and partner images.
  • Upload videos to Common Sense site and social media platforms.
  • Assist with closed-captioning of videos. 
  • Assist individual team members with other administrative duties.


  • Enthusiasm to learn about our organization and our video department's work.
  • Demonstrated interest in education, advocacy, and social justice issues.
  • Past or current coursework in a related field.


  • Ideal start date: June 15th.
  • Ideal end date: August 20th.
  • Hours: ~1520 hours/week.
  • Interns need to be available to attend a minimum of six weekly educational Lunch & Learns (there will be seven total). Lunch & Learns will be every Wednesday from 12 p.m.1 p.m. (PST). On-site attendance is preferred.
  • We will work with your clinical or internship office for school credit if necessary.
  • This is a paid opportunity, $17 per hour.
