Through our schools program, we provide educators with a curriculum that teaches the essential digital citizenship and literacy skills every student needs to succeed. More than 100,000 member schools across the country use our ratings and free curriculum and content. We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, legislators, and a grassroots community of concerned parents and teachers to improve the media and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.

We are looking for a passionate intern to join the Common Sense Latino Program team. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to learn about the inner workings of our organization and how it provides high-quality resources for parents in the Latinx community. As an intern, you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that is uniquely placed in the Latinx community as a high-quality resource for parents.

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA 

TYPE: Part-time, temporary

HOURS: ~20 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Latino Marketing Manager 


  • Build tangible and marketable skills including content creation, content distribution, and marketing.
  • Transcreate scripts for short videos and articles.
  • Work through projects involving SEO, Google Analytics, and Drupal (a content management system).
  • Support our engagement strategy on our Facebook and Instagram channels.
  • Collaborate in a mission-driven organization. 


  • Research popular trends on Google and Facebook.
  • Analyze the performance of the content on our site.
  • Create social images and graphics to share on social media and on the site.
  • Support the Tech Balance program, (which sends text-messaging tips to Latinx parents)  as needed. 
  • Assist individual team members with other administrative tasks.


  • Enthusiasm to learn about our organization and the Common Sense Latino Program's work.
  • Demonstrated interest in education, advocacy, and social justice issues.
  • Past or current coursework in a related field is a plus.
  • Spanish fluency is required for this role.


  • Ideal start date: June 15, 2020
  • Ideal end date: August 10, 2020
  • Hours: ~1520 hours/week.
  • Interns need to be available to attend a minimum of five weekly educational Lunch & Learns (there will be seven total). Lunch & Learns will be every Wednesday from 12 p.m.1 p.m. (PST). On-site attendance is preferred.
  • We will work with your clinical or internship office for school credit if necessary.
  • This is a paid opportunity, $17 per hour.
