The Senior Accountant will help us scale smoothly. You'll work with our experienced Controller and other members of the Finance and Administrative Teams. You'll also be a member of an organization where we value transparency, are passionate about what we do, and take care in our interactions with colleagues and customers.

Location: San Francisco, CA (remote during the COVID-19 pandemic)

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Reports to: Controller

You Will:

  • Manage the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries
  • Month-End Close: ensure daily and monthly processes/reconciliations are completed and lead to a timely and accurate month-end close
  • Prepare clear, concise, and complete financial reports and statements
  • Remain current on regulatory and GAAP requirements
  • Support and train staff in understanding and complying with policies and procedures
  • Ensure year-end close is completed in an accurate and timely manner; ensure supporting schedules and reconciliations are completed and available for the audit;
  • Respond to auditor questions and perform research
  • Help prepare annual nonprofit tax return (Form 990)
  • Work closely with the Development team to ensure timely and accurate grant reporting
  • Prepare a budget to actual variance analysis and other analytic reports
  • Assist the controller with other ad hoc projects and strategic finance team goals
  • Support other Finance, Technology, and Human Resources teamwork as necessary

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of public accounting experience.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Experience managing finances and accounting in a high-growth organization.
  • Experience working in a finance role at a large nonprofit (>25M annual revenue).
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience working across multiple departments and with senior management.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and G-Suite.
  • Experience with enterprise-level accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
